Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday criticized Punjab government for its faulty mining policy and asked government to review the mining policy in state. In a press statement AAP Punjab president and MP from Sangrur, Bhagwant Mann said that the mining mafia operating in the state tried to grab 89 sand mines in the recently happened bidding but with the interference of AAP it could not be done. AAP leader Adv. Dinesh Chaddha had presented facts showing irregularities in the bidding of sand mines a day after the auction.

Mann said that AAP is playing the role of a constructive opposition party in the state and will continue to do so. AAP will not allow the sand mafia to loot the residents of state by grabbing the natural resources and forcing people to buy sand on higher prices.

“It is the need of the hour to draft a proper policy regarding the auction of sand mines so that the lobby can be broken and common people do not face any problem purchasing sand.” Mann said he said that if the government takes steps in this regard, AAP will appreciate the work of government.

AAP leader and crusader against the illegal sand mining, Adv. Dinesh Chaddha demanded that government must draft a black list of people who are running illegal mining and Gunda tax trade in state. He demanded that these people must be blocked from taking part in the auction in future. Chaddha offered to provide proofs to government against the people indulged in the illegal mining trade. He said that if the government will not take action against the mafia, AAP will fight against it with the help of courts.
