The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has served an ultimatum on the Captain Amarinder Singh government to tame the sand mafia active in the state. It caution the government that if it failed to take an urgent call on issue, the entire AAP leadership of Punjab would be free to take on the high and mighty sand mafia in its own, beginning from Ropar where it’s a free-for-all phenomenon.

In a joint statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh, party MLAs Amarjit Singh Sandoa, Punjab state NRI Wing President Jai Kishan Singh Rori and Party’s Lok Sabha MP nominee from Sri Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary constituency said on Saturday that the sand mafia was running the illegal trade in the area under the protective patronage of the government and police dispensation.

The AAP leaders said that, like during the BJP-SAD regime, the ruling Congress Government in the state was patronizing those behind the illegal trade of mining. They claimed that trucks and tippers ferrying sand could be seen ruling the roads at night without the fear of law of the land.

Taking a jibe at the Captain Amarinder Singh, the AAP leaders said that if he wanted to have a closer picture of thye raging menace, he should make an aerial survey of some of the villages like Suhan, Saiddpur, Ailgran, Agam and Haripur Varta in Ropar-Sri Anandpur Sahib areas.
