CAPT. AMARINDER ANNOUNCES RS.42 CRORE TO PRESERVE PUNJAB’S CULTURAL HERITAGE

Chandigarh, July 21: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today announced Rs.42 crore as a dedicated fund for preservation of the state’s rich cultural heritage.

The fund will be used for the upkeep and maintenance of various cultural projects across the state.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said a sum of Rs.15 lakh has already been released to SDM Raikot for the upkeep of the Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial at Bassian Kothi, besides meeting other contingency expenses.

Capt. Amarinder said that his government was fully committed to conserve the glorious legacy of the state through various cultural heritage projects and memorials, which would go a long way in sensitizing the younger generations about the state’s rich heritage.

Capt. Amarinder Singh has already directed Director, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Shivdular Singh Dhillon to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of all the cultural heritage projects in the state especially the Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial in Ludhiana district.

According to Dhillon, the district level management committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, is also being reconstituted by the state government, and, based on its recommendations, maintenance funds will be issued on regular basis.
