Courtesy call, says actor Kamal Haasan after meeting Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, June 21

Actor Kamal Haasan on Thursday met former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi at her official residence here and described the meeting as a courtesy call.
Addressing reporters after the brief interaction, Haasan said political situation in Tamil Nadu was discussed in general and the meeting was mostly a courtesy call to the senior politician.
Haasan on Wednesday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi amid early signals of alliance building in the Dravidian state where the recent entry of two top actors had spiced up the political story.
Superstar Rajnikant is silently building his cadre having invited people from all over the state to join him.
Rajnikant’s utterances make him appear closer to the BJP. He has spoken of spirituality in politics and also the need to rid politics of corruption. RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy has also openly backed Rajnikant indicating a certain unstated understanding between him and the saffron forces.
Haasan on the other hand has been critical of the BJP and has praised Gandhi.
The Congress and DMK are already partners in the UPA which Sonia Gandhi heads.
