Jagtar Singh Tara awarded life imprisonment in Beant assassination case

Chandigarh, March 18: The CBI special court today awarded life imprisonment till death to Jagtar Singh Tara in the case of assassination of Punjab chief minister Beant Singh.

Beant Singh was killed by human bomb Dilawar Singh on August 31, 1995 in front of the Punjab secretariat.

It may be mentioned that Jagtar Singh Hawara and Balwant Singh Rajoana convicted earlier in this case are in jail.

Tara had yesterday stated in the court that he should be treated as prisoner of war.
