Jaijeet Johal serves legal notice on Sukhbir Badal, his wife Harsimrat and PTC channel

Bathinda, May 25: Jaijeet Singh Johal, brother-in-law of Punjab finance minister Manpreet singh Badal, has served legal notices on Akali Dal president and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, his wife and Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, brother-in-law and former revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia, and two others for defamation alleging that baseless allegations and insinuations were levelled against him by them.
Johal, popularly known as JoJo, alleged that the false allegations were purposely levelled against him to spread vicious, vile, and false allegations with an intention to defame, humiliate, and harass him. He stated that these baseless insinuations have been widely reported in the media that have tarnished his reputation. The allegations were intended to lower his dignity, and to cause mental agony and harassment. “Wild, baseless and unfounded accusations” have adversely affected his reputation, Johal as he released copies of the legal notice.
The notice asks Sukhbir Singh Badal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Bikramjeet Singh Majithia, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema (all of Shiromani Akali Dal) and Mr. Ravindra Narayan of PTC News to tender an unqualified apology, withdraw the allegations and statements, and cease and desist from making any further similar statements.
“In case Sukhbir and others do not apologize within one week, I will initiative defamation suit against Sukhbir and others,” Johal told the media today. He added that the defamation suit would seek recovery of damages tentatively quantified at Rs 10 crore, apart from the liability for costs and expenses incurred.
