Manpreet launches job fair, says 35k youths to be hired

Finance Minister Manpreet Badal today said the state government aimed at generating 25 lakh jobs by hosting job fairs as part of its “ghar ghar rozgar” scheme during its tenure. Inaugurating a job fair at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University here, Manpreet said the government would hold 40 such fairs in a year.
“We have created a web portal and around 1,000 companies are taking part in the job fair. We hope to generate 35,000 jobs during the ongoing events,” he said.
‘Goonda tax a thing of past’
On “goonda tax”, he said: “We have cracked down on the elements collecting such tax over the last one week and the issue has been resolved completely. Police teams have been deployed and CCTVs installed on the roads leading to Guru Gobind Singh Refinery.” He said anyone involved in such illegal practice would not be spared irrespective of his status.
‘Punjabis indebted to Canada’

Manpreet showered praise on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for providing job opportunities to Punjabi youth and treating them like first-class citizens. Manpreet said: “All Punjabis led by our Chief Minister wholeheartedly welcome the Canadian PM in the state. The CM will meet the Canadian delegation in Amritsar on Wednesday.”
Anganwari workers burn FM’s effigy
Muktsar: Continuing their protest against Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal for allegedly not releasing funds for the anganwari centres and increasing their wages, activists of the All Punjab Anganwari Employees’ Union on Tuesday lodged protests in various parts of the district. They burnt Manpreet’s effigy at all places.
