PARLIAMENT PAYS TRIBUTE TO SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH

Chandigarh, March 23:

Parliament paid tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh today on his martyrdom day as a delegation of the Members of Parliament from Punjab had met the Speaker Lok Sabha Mrs Sumitra Mahajan yesterday demanding to pay homage to martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev in the Parliament.

National President of Congress Party Mr. Rahul Gandhi and President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Sunil Jakhar along with other member of parliaments across the country also paid floral tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s statue in the Parliament House complex in New Delhi.

It may be recalled here that a delegation comprising of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and Lok Sabha member from Gurdaspur Mr. Sunil Jakhar along with Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu MP from Ludhiana, Mr. Dharamvir Gandhi MP from Patiala and Mr. Bhagwant Mann MP from Sangrur had met speaker Lok Sabha yesterday demanding the same.

On this occasion, Mr. Sunil Jakhar today said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was not just a person but he was a thought, had an ideology and today we should adopt his teaching to be able to build a capable and developed nation, where there will be equal opportunities for everyone.

Mr. Jakhar also invited the youth of Punjab, to take inspiration from Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s dream and to come forward to build a beautiful and prosperous Punjab so that we can create a healthy and drug free state.

On this occasion, Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu, MP from Ludhiana, MP Mr. Gurjeet Singh Aujla and Mr. Deepender Hooda Member of Parliament from Haryana were also present.
