Police suspect Delhi gangster to be behind murder of Haryanvi singer

The Panipat police suspect the role of gangster Dinesh of Delhi behind the murder of Harshita Dahiya, a Haryanvi singer and dancer, who was shot dead in Israna block of Panipat district on Wednesday.
SP Rahul Sharma said Dinesh, a gangster of Karala village of Delhi, was facing many criminal cases and was currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
Dinesh is the brother-in-law of Harshita, who had accused him of rape in 2013 and a case was registered against him, he added.
Besides, Harshita’s mother was murdered at Narela in Delhi in 2014 and she was a prime witness in her mother’s murder, he said.
According to sources, the deceased supported the movement of Yuva Kisan Jagriti Mission. On the invitation of the mission she came to Chamrara village for a programme on Tuesday.
Sources said that hours before the incident she had uploaded a video on social media saying she would disclose the name of the suspect of her mother’s murder.
Harshita was shot dead on Tuesday evening while she was on her way to her home in a car after a programme at Chamrara village in Israna block.
Nisha, a resident of Ballabgarh, Pradeep of Rathdhana village of Sonepat and Sandeep of Gumar village were in the car with Harshita when the assailants overtook their car and they forced them out of the car before murdering her. The assailants who came in a black-coloured car fled from the spot after shooting her.
