Tript Bajwa inaugurates software ‘Secure’ to make MGNREGA estimates online

Chandigarh, October 11: The Rural Development and Panchayat Department of Punjab Government has developed online software to bring more transparency & efficiency in making estimates of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation Guarantee (MGNREGA) scheme. The Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa inaugurated this online software ‘Secure’ in the presence of senior officers of the department here today.

Sharing information about this, the Rural Development Minister said that the estimates of work done under MAGNREGA were earlier made through paperwork, but now all estimates of MGNREGA would be made online, which would save time and paper also.

He said that initially this project is being launched as a pilot project in Hoshiarpur district, after that it would be implemented in the entire state.

The Panchayat Minister said that efforts were being made to make the entire system of the department online and paperless. He said that this would not only bring transparency in the working of the department but online system would also help in time bound approvals and undue objections on files. He said that with the implementation of the online system it would also be easier in fixing the accountability of officers / employees.

Amongst others present on the occasion included Mr. Anurag Verma Principal Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Mr. Jaskaran Singh, Director and Tanu Kashyap Joint Development Commissioner, Jogender Kumar Deputy Director and other officials of the department.
