New Delhi, April 11
The Congress on Thursday approved the nomination of Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari from Anandpur Sahib seat and Kewal Dhillon from Sangrur in Punjab for the Lok Sabha elections.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi approved the nominations, while Bathinda and Ferozepur are still pending.
Tewari, who was Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, was seeking a ticket from Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency which the party gave to veteran leader Pawan Kumar Bansal.
In 2009, he won from Ludhiana constituency whereas he opted out in 2014.
Senior party leader Ambika Soni has preferred to opt out of the electoral race this year.
Soni had unsuccessfully contested from Anandpur in 2014.
