Dal Khalsa hopes Imran Khan era would bring peace to this region

Amritsar, August 18: Hard-line Sikh organisation Dal Khalsa today expressed the hole that former cricketer-turned Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan would take the initiative to bring peace to this region.

In a communication addressed to him through Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, Dal Khalsa president Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Dal Khalsa welcomes your election as PM and expect that your leadership will mark a change in Pakistan and positively impact the geo-political situation in South Asia.”

Congratulating him and the people of Pakistan, he said the Dal Khalsa expected him to safeguard the interests of all Pakistani citizens, including the minority Sikh population in his country. Cheema underscored that it was commendable that Sikh had also been elected on the ticket of Imran Khan’s party. “I am sure that the Sikh community will get more opportunities and avenues for social, professional and political persuasion”, he added.

Dal Khalsa is hopeful that Pakistan government under Imran Khan would celebrate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at Nankana Sahib with traditional gusto and fervour enhancing Sikh-Muslim affinity and brotherhood.

Cheema said, “Dal Khalsa hopes that you will play your new innings as well as you did to win the World Cup in cricket and take Pakistan forward. We welcome your call for detente between India and Pakistan and hope that the two countries will pave the way for peace in the region with a resolution of the Kashmir dispute with full and real involvement of the Kashmiris.”
