Education Minister to formally kickstart pre-primary classes from Mohali on 14th November

Chandigarh, November 14:

The project envisioned by the Punjab Government for cementing the infrastructure and foundation of primary education in the state and beginning pre-primary classes would turn into reality on 14th November when the Education Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary would formally kickstart these at the Government Primary School, Phase-7 at Mohali. The day would also see the commencement of pre-primary classes throughout 12500 primary schools of the state and the initiative is named ‘Khed Mahal’.

In a statement here today, the minister termed the occasion of Children’s Day on 14th November as a historical one in the educational sector of the state especially from the point of view of primary education. The minister said that the dream of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh regarding the starting of pre-primary classes for children falling in3-6 year age group has turned into a reality. Divulging more, the minister said that there could not have been a better gift for the children on this historic day. The minister also added that the novel beginning would result in the increasing admissions into the Government Schools.

The Secretary, Education, Mr. Krishan Kumar said that functions would be held in all the primary schools of the state where the grand welcome would be accorded to the children admitted into the pre-primary classes. He further elaborated that the children from 3-6 year age group under this initiative named khed mahal have been admitted into the Nursery, LKG and UKG classes and the children would be taught using the playful methods.
