Facebook testing its own group video chat app called Bonfire: report

-- 07 July,2017

Facebook is reportedly working on a standalone group video chat app “Bonfire” that will incorporate ideas from Life on Air’s Houseparty app, a video chat app created by the maker of Meerkat app, which allowed users to broadcast live from the app itself.

According to a report by The Verge, the app was recently demonstrated to Facebook’s employees and is being targeted for a fall release.

Additionally, there is another app named “Talk” which is in works, reported The Information. According to the report, the app has been designed particularly for teenagers and will encourage them to converse with their grandparents using video chat. The app also “gives more control to parents over whom their kids can contact”.

Facebook has over 2 billion users at present, almost double the size it recorded in 2012.
