4TH MEGA JOB FAIR REGISTERS AN ALL TIME HIGH SUCCESS RATE OF MORE THAN 60 % WITH OVER 50,000 YOUTH FACILITATED FOR EMPLOYMENT

CM ASKS EMPLOYMENT GENERATION DEPT TO FURTHER INTENSIFY EFFORTS UNDER GHAR GHAR ROZGAR AND KAROBAR MISSION TO ENSURE THAT AT LEAST ONE MEMBER OF EACH HOUSEHOLD OF PUNJAB GETS ENGAGED IN GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT

CHANDIGARH, FEBRUARY 23:

Punjab Government’s flagship ‘Punjab Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission’ scheme under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh got a major boost with more than 50,000 youth getting placed in various private companies, besides another 4070 facilitated in getting themselves identified for self-employment and another 6000 plus getting shortlisted for private placements during the recently concluded 4th mega job fair held across the state.

            Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that as many as 76 events were organised at 54 venues spread over all the 22 districts from February 13 till 22.

            Of the 70,752 youth interviewed, more than 60% youth of the state who participated got selected during the event, thereby registering all time high success.

            Companies/firms which offered jobs to the youth during the 10-day mega job fair included; HDFC bank, OLA Food Panda, CSC, LIC, Zomato, Verka, Pukhraj, ICICI Bank, Connect, Big Bazaar, Bajaj Allianz, Patanjali Ayurved, YES Bank, Vardhman, Nisshinboo Garments Limited, SBI Life Insurance, IDBI Insurance, OLA, SIS Securities, Reliance Jio and Orane International Pvt. Ltd besides local trading units.

Enthused by the overwhelming response received during the job fairs, Chief Minister has asked the Department of Employment Generation & Training to further intensify its efforts to provide maximum jobs to the youth.

            The CM appreciated  the endeavours of the Employment Generation & Training Department in facilitating over 5.34 lakh youth in getting self or wage employment  (at the rate of 761 per day). The CM also appreciated the role of the deptt in coordinating with the Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) and Lead development Managers (LDMs) for arranging loans to fund self-employment ventures of the youth. The Chief Minister asked all the concerned departments to further synergize their efforts towards ensuring accelerated job opportunities to all the employable youth in Punjab.

            Captain Amarinder Singh also directed the authorities to explore more employment and entrepreneurship avenues to facilitate the jobless youth for getting gainfully employed.

           It may be recalled that of the 5.34 lakh youth facilitated till now under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission scheme , around 0.40 lac youth got jobs in the government and 1.55 lakh with private sector, while 3.40 lakh have been provided assistance under various self-employment schemes since the incumbent government took over in March 2017. The District Bureaus of Employment and Enterprises (DBEEs) in all districts have become the nodal centres for the job seekers. The CM requested all youth of Punjab to visit DBEEs and seek guidance and Carter counseling for a bright future.
