50% JOB-SEEKERS FIND PLACEMENT ON 1ST TWO DAYS OF LATEST MEGA JOB FAIRS THAT COMMENCED ON FEB 13

·        PUNJAB CM ASKS EMPLOYMENT GENERATION DEPT TO STEP UP EFFORTS UNDER GHAR GHAR ROZGAR SCHEME

 CHANDIGARH, FEBRUARY 15: Captain Amarinder Singh government’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission’ scheme got a major impetus when 5748 youth got selected for various jobs by private companies, while another 357 were facilitated in getting themselves self-employed during the first two days of the latest Mega Job Fairs being held in Punjab.

Of the 11664 youth interviewed, 1638 were shortlisted at the fairs held in 17 districts, namely Amritsar, Bathinda, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Pathankot, Sangrur and SAS Nagar (Mohali) besides at Barnala, Bathinda, Fazilka, Moga, Pathankot, Malout (Sri Muktsar Sahib) and Tarn Taran, on February 13 and 14.

Nearly 50% youth of the youth who participated got selected on the first two days of the 10-day job fairs, being held at 53 venues in all the 22 districts till February 22, 2019. Enthused by the overwhelming response received during the job fairs, Chief Minister has asked the Department of Employment Generation & Training to further intensify its efforts to provide maximum jobs to the youth.

The Chief Minister has also asked all the concerned departments to synergize their efforts towards ensuring accelerated job opportunities to all the employable youth in Punjab. He also ordered further scaling up of measures to augment job and entrepreneurship ventures to facilitate the jobless youth.

The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of the Employment Generation & Training Department in facilitating more than 5 lakh youth in getting jobs (at the rate of 700 jobs a day), besides liaising with the banks for arranging loans to fund their self-employed ventures. Of the 5 lakh youth facilitated under the scheme, 37,542 youths got jobs in the government and 1.41 lakh with private sector, while 3.21 lakh have been provided assistance under various self-employment schemes. The District Bureaus of Employment and Enterprises (DBEEs) in all districts have becoming the nodal centres for the job seekers.
