AAP blames Punjab govt for Amritsar deaths on rail track, seeks Rs.1 crore compensation for each victim

Chandigarh, October 20-Aam Aadmi party(AAP) Punjab has expressed deep shock over unfortunate deaths of over 100 people in Amritsar who were crushed by train while watching burning of Ravana effigy standing on railway track and held Punjab government solely responsible for the tragic incident.

AAP MLA and Lop Harpal Singh Cheema and MP Bhangwant Maan in a statement expressed deep condolences over the deaths of innocent persons who went to participate in the festival. They said that district administration is fully responsible for the deaths since permission was granted to burn effigies close to railway tracks.

AAP leaders said that organisers of function had requested the Railways to run trains at slow speed but train came on fast speed and no siren was blown to alert the people standing on track. Even the police officials deputed there took no action to remove the people from track.

AAP leader demanded a judicial inquiry into the Amritsar incident and punish the guilty. AAP leaders also demanded a compensation of Rs.one crore to kin of each victim and a government job for them.

AAP leaders Dr.Balbir Singh,Kuldip Singh Dhaliwal, Ashok Talwar, Jiwanpreet Kaur, Sarabjit Singh, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijhhar also condemned the Amritsar incident and sought judicial inquiry
