Chandigarh, February 18, 2019

The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday walked out of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha under the leadership of Lop Harpal Singh Cheema on the issue of govt. failing to provide scholarship and uniforms to dalit students and in opposition to the bail granted to close aide of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, Dyal Singh Kolianwali.

Addressing the media, Harpal Singh Cheema said that due to the denial of govt. to pay pre and post metric scholarship to dalit students, around 1 lakh students of state have failed to get admissions in higher classes. The govt. has misused crores of rupees meant for dalit scholarships and in absence of uniforms the dalit students were unable to attend the school.

Cheema said the action under SC/ST act must be taken against those responsible for snatching rights of dalit students. He said that AAP proposed to bring a resolution on the issue of dalit students in the house and were compelled to walked out of house as the speaker denied to let the members raise the issue. He said that Capt and Badals are hand in glove and the act of vigilance bureau to let Kolianwali go is the latest example of it. Cheema accused the officers of VB did it on the orders of Capt. Amarinder Singh.
