ALL SET FOR COUNTING OF VOTES ON 15 OCTOBER: VK SINGH

Chandigarh, October 14: Chief Electoral Officer Punjab Mr. VK Singh today asserted that all requisite arrangements, preparations had been made for counting of votes of Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency bye election at 2 counting centers.

Giving details of counting centers, Mr. Singh said that for 6 Assembly Constituencies of Gurdaspur district counting center is set up at Sukhjindra Collage Gurdaspur and for for 3 Assembly Constituencies of Pathankot District centre has been sut up at SD Collage Pathankot, where the counting of votes would start at 8:00 am on Sunday. He said that with a view to ensure peaceful and flawless completion of whole counting process adequate security arrangements were also put in place. He said that unauthorized persons would not be allowed to enter the counting centers.

Mr. Singh had made it clear that no one is allowed to take mobile inside the counting centers except Election Observers. He said that officers/officials/candidates/counting agents, security personnel and staff would also be not allowed to take their mobiles phones inside the centers. He further said that ECI has announced complete prohibition of sale and supply of liquor in Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency.

As per the ECI directive, all the liquor shops & Vends in the Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency would remain closed and no hotel, restaurant, liquor shop or any eating joint, even with a license, would be allowed to serve or sell liquor on the day of announcement of results bye poll on October 15, 2017.
