Bibi Jagir to complain against ‘parallel’ clergy

-- 14 October,2017

Jalandhar, October 14
Following reports of being summoned by the “parallel jathedars”, former SGPC chief Jagir Kaur today said they did not have any authority to summon her and she would not appear before them on the announced date of November 9.
Instead, she said she and other SGPC members would formally lodge a complaint with Akal Takht on October 15 to summon the “parallel jathedars” and act against them for creating confusion in the Sikh community. She said she would file a written appeal in this regard with Akal Takht jathedar Gurbachan Singh.
However, Jagir Kaur, who held a press conference along with seven other SGPC leaders, said she was ready to go barefoot to Akal Takht, had she been summoned by it. Hitting out at Leader of Opposition and Aam Aadmi Party leader Sukhpal Khaira, she said, “Not being a Sikh as per rehat maryada, even his complaint before Akal Takht would not be accepted.”
Much upset over the terms ‘Kudi-maar’ (girl child killer) used by Khaira and her other opponents against her, the women wing chief of the SAD said, “I have not been convicted for murder of my daughter. There were other charges against me, over which my appeal is still pending in the Punjab and Haryana HC.”
The SGPC leaders who came to her support included former MLA Surinder S Bhullewal Rathan, Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, Kulwant S Manan, Paramjit Singh Raipur, Gurpreet Kaur, Sarwan S Klar and Ravinder Singh. Khaira has been claiming that it will be double standard for Akal Takht if it does not excommunicate Jagir Kaur despite a five-year rigorous imprisonment order against her.
