Cabinet to take final call today

Chandigarh, December 20

The state Council of Ministers is likely to take a final decision on power subsidy to the state industry in its meeting tomorrow.
Sources said various modalities discussed with the industry representatives today will be taken up.
Senior functionaries said to fulfil the promise of subsidised power tariff with effect from November 1, the government had been struggling to generate resources to make up for the fiscal burden due to the subsidy. After holding parleys with industry representatives, the government is expected to take a final decision.
A policy decision on cases of VAT refund by the Excise and Taxation Department will also be tabled in the Cabinet meeting.
