Canadian defence minister Harjit Sajjan to visit native village in Hoshiarpur on April 20

-- 19 April,2017

Hoshiarpur, Apr 19:  Canadian defence minister Harjit Singh Sajjan’s visit to his native village Bambeli has finally been confirmed.

In the itinerary issued earlier, there was no mention of the village, but later the district administration was asked to make arrangements for his night stay on April 20.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Harcharan Singh Bhullar confirmed that security arrangements were being made for the foreign dignitary’s visit. “We have received instructions from our head office to make arrangements for the April 20 night but exact time of the minister’s arrival has not been intimated,” said Bhullar.
Sajjan’s parents Kundan Singh and Vidya Devi and his sister Amarjit Kaur could not be contacted as they had left for Delhi for his reception. Sukhdev Singh, a former sarpanch of the village and a close associate of the family, said that Sajjan would be accorded a grand welcome at his native village. “We have put up banners and arranged a band to welcome him,” he said.
