Christopher Wray is new FBI Director

-- 08 June,2017

Washington, June 7
US President Donald Trump today nominated former Justice Department official Christopher Wray as the new FBI Director, hours before a critical testimony by the intelligence agency chief he sacked.
“I will be nominating Christopher A Wray, a man of impeccable credentials, to be the new Director of the FBI. Details to follow,” Trump tweeted.
The announcement comes ahead of former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on the circumstances that he was fired by Trump and the insight into the Russian investigations. Wray is a litigation attorney with law firm King & Spalding in Washington and Atlanta. He previously served as the Assistant Attorney General in charge of Criminal Division of the Justice Department from 2003 to 2005.
Stay united to fight terrorism, Trump tells Gulf nations
Trump has asked the Gulf states to stay united to fight terrorism and promote stability in the region as he spoke with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman amid the Arab world’s biggest diplomatic crisis in years over Qatar’s alleged support to extremists.
The two leaders spoke over phone after Saudi Arabia and its regional allies severed diplomatic ties with Qatar accusing the tiny Gulf nation of funding Islamist groups.
“The two leaders discussed the critical goals of preventing the financing of terrorist organisations and eliminating the promotion of extremism by any nation in the region,” the White House said.
