CM informs Sandhhwan he was seized of the matter relating to pollution of river waters

            Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Kotkapura MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan, drew the attention of the House during the ongoing session, towards the pollution of the waters of Sutlej, Beas and other rivers in the state, stating that the menace had led to the spread of certain life-threatening diseases among the people, especially in the Malwa area, like cancer, asthma, and other water-borne diseases.

 He lamented that he and his party had been going hammers and tongs bringing the issue to the notice of the government in the saddle but to no avail. He added that the problem was taking alarming proportions owning to the insensitivity of the government and those helming the affairs of the pollution control board.

Sandhwan demanded stringent action against the factory owners and industry honchos who were contributing to the pollution in the waters of Sutlej, Beas and other rivers in the area, thus saving precious lives of the people, who were subjected to drink water which was not fit for human consumption.

Taking the matter with the seriousness it merited, CM assured the member that action would be taken against those responsible for this mess. He informed the House that that water treatment plants had been set up to fight the menace and more were under being set up in the future.
