CONGRESS NOW OPENLY OUT TO CAPTURE SGPC : SAD

-- 15 February,2019

AFTER FAILING IN PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS, CONGRESS HAS NOW CONNIVED  WITH AAP TO FULFILL AGENDA : DR. CHEEMA

SIKHS ARE WELL AWARE ABOUT THE DEEP ROOTED CONSPIRACIES OF THE CONGRESS SINCE LONG

Chandigarh, February 15 :  Commenting on the resolution passed by the Congress and AAP in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Shiromani Akali Dal said that the time old deep rooted conspiracy of the Congress party to take control of the apex sikh body SGPC for the management of sikh shrines has been exposed. The Congress party has now come out in open to capture the Sikh religious body after failing in its previous attempts through dummy organizations.

One fails to understand how a state legislature can decide on about the future of  a democratic Institution which has been designated as ‘Inter State body corporate’. Election of the SGPC are conducted by Union government in the state of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territory of Chandigarh. In addition 15 members are co opted from different states of India.

In a strong worded  statement released here today, the SAD Senior Vice President and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said since last few decades the Congress party had tried to capture the Sikh body through its puppets. It has always fielded its candidates by raising different fronts in elections conducted during all these years but the Sikh masses have completely rejected these dummy candidates of the Congress party.

Dr. Cheema said that after failing in its earlier attempts, now the Congress party has come out in open to contest the elections with the agenda to capture the body and surprisingly it has taken Aam Admi Party (AAP) as its ally to fulfill its agenda. He said that it is most unfortunate to see that both these parties have used the pious platform of state Assembly to push their agenda forward.

The SAD Spokesman said that the SGPC is government under the All India Act enacted by the Parliament and any state legislature has no right to interfere in its working. He reminded the Congress and AAP that the SGPC has members from Haryana and Himachal Pradesh also, it is not a body of Punjab but a  representative body of the Sikhs residing in different parts of the country. He said that by passing a resolution in the state assembly, the Congress party and AAP have set a bad precedent for the other states.

Dr. Cheema furthers said that conducting elections is duty of the Centre government and they should not forget that it was in 2016 when the Supreme Court had dismissed the petition of the Sehajdhari party, that too a protégé of the Congress party. He said that with this decision of the Honorable Supreme Court the house elected in 2011 was revived and all the members duly elected by the masses have every right to complete their term.

The SAD Spokesman also said that the SAD is always ready to contest the elections whenever these are held as per Constitution but the present action of the Congress party has exposed its claim of being a secular party. He said that this action has also reiterated that the Congress was always a enemy number 1 of the Sikhs and it will remain so.
