CONNECT WITH YOUR ROOTS-SECOND BATCH OF YOUNGSTERS FROM ENGLAND TO VISIT PUNJAB BETWEEN APRIL 6-16

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 1: Under the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s flagship program ‘Connect to Your Roots’ (CYR) with a view to connecting the youngsters settled abroad with the motherland of their forefathers, the second group of youngsters from United Kingdom will visit Punjab from April 6 to 16, 2019 for which Secretary NRI Affairs Rahul Bhandari on behalf of State Government today reviewed the requisite arrangements and preparedness.

          Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson said that the Coordinator Officer for UK V.S. Khera called on the Secretary NRI Affairs Rahul Bhandari and discussed various issues regarding selection of beneficiaries, travel plans, detailed Itinerary and other arrangements under CYR program.  He apprised that this group consisting boys and girls would visit different historic, religious and prominent places in the state. During the meeting, it was also informed that the coordinator was touring UK to help in identifying eligible youngsters under the CYR.

Pertinently, under this scheme, the Punjabi youth settled abroad has been provided with a golden opportunity to visit the land of their ancestors. This unique initiative would go a long way in cementing their age old bonds with soil of their grandparents besides keeping them abreast with the rich culture, traditions and values. The delegation will also stay in their ancestral village for a day or two.
