Dal Khalsa march on March 15 on Sikh sovereignty

-- 07 March,2017

Jalandhar- To pay its tributes to Sikh warrior of yesteryear Baba Baghel Singh, who is credited with the unfurling of Sikh Flag atop the Red Fort in 1783, the Dal Khalsa would observe the event by holding a Khalsa March at Hoshiarpur on March 15.

Briefing the media party’s former president Harcharanjit Singh Dhami said “Our aim is to inculcate the spirit of Khalsa rule in the present generation and to connect them with their historical and cultural roots”. He said their party’s young activists will undertake a march on the streets of Hoshiarpur carrying Sikh flags, pics of Sikh warriors and placards to demonstrate their desire for self-rule.

We are passing through a critical phase and there was a need to re-strategize our plans to attain the Panthic objectives. The struggle may well be fought on dozens of fronts and for many years to come. “We face a ruthless and crafty enemy intent on destroying our culture and identity”, said he.

While reacting to the statement of union minister Venkaiah Naidu, wherein he has said that Azadi slogans will invite action under sedition law, Kanwar Pal Singh spokesperson of the Dal Khalsa said it illustrates BJP’s frustration. “India under Narendra Modi is emerging as a fascist and autocratic state & their claims of being a largest democracy in the world stand exposed”, said he.

He said the rising intolerance and growing assaults on students and teachers in India by so-called nationalists has thrown the society into chaos.

He said that RSS, BJP and its subsidiary organisations can go to any extent to throttle the freedom of expression of those, who refuses to tow their line.

He said the surge of attacks on two Indian men in Kansas and this weekend’s shooting of a Sikh man in Kent (Washington) has set the alarm bells ringing. Like in India, the people were being targeted due to their faith, belief and identity in US also.
