Deputy Jail Superintendent Dalbir Singh Teji demoted down to Grade-2 from Grade-1 owing to negligence of duty

Chandigarh, December 19: Taking the issue of security of jails with utmost seriousness, the Jail Department, Punjab, today demoted the Superintendent of the Central Jail, Ferozpur, Dalbir Singh Teji to Deputy Superintendent Grade-2 from Grade-1. This was disclosed here today in a press communiqué by a spokesman of the Jail Department.

The Spokesman said that the jail department said that the proposal to demote Dalbir Singh Teji from Grade-1 to Grade-2 was sent to the Punjab Public Service Commission to which the latter accorded its approval. The spokesman further stated that when Dalbir Singh Teji was deputed at Central Jail, Hoshiarpur, an amount of Rs. 50000 and some material was discovered by the STF from the family of a prisoner who was to be handed over the said material after giving the above amount to the superintendent.

Besides, on the orders of the ADGP (Jails), the DIG (Jails) Mr. S.S. Saini conducted an enquiry further brought to the fore the fact that the prisoner was also not lodged in the high security zone due to which the said superintendent was chargesheeted also.
