DSGMC TAKES STRONG NOTICE OF IMPOSING UNACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS FOR SIKHS TO AVAIL WATER FOR DRINKING AND IRRIGATION IN MADHYA PRADESH

BOOK AND PUNISH GUILTY FOR VIOLATING FREEDOM OF RELIGION : MANJINDER SINGH SIRSA

New Delhi, March 18 : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has taken strong notice of an incident occurred in Ashok Nagar district of Madhya Pradesh where strong unacceptable condition were being impose for Sikhs to avail water for drinking and irrigation and the body has asked the state Chief Minister to book and punish guilty under the stringent provisions provided in the Constitution.

In a strong worded statement released here today, the DSGMC President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa and General Secretary Mr. Harmeet Singh Kalka said that its is shocking to know that in village Mathana distrct Ashok Nagar in Madhya Pradesh Gursikh families were denied water for drinking and irrigation purposes. They said that it is most horrifying to note that these families have been asked to shorn their hair and beard for availing the facility of water. They said that everyone in the world specially in India knows and hair and beard are integral part of sikh way of life and every sikh follows the tenets as asked by the Sikh Guru Sahiban.

Both the Sikh leaders said that although everyone in the country know that Mr. Kamalnath is opposed to the Sikh community and had played an important and active role during the 1984 sikh genocide but in the present case is occupying a constitutional post. They said that under such condition is becomes his duty to ensure that nobody is being discrimination in the state ruled by him on the basis of religion, caste, colour, creed etc as enshrined in the Indian Constitution. They said that it is most unfortunate to see that he has miserable failed in ensure this and implementing the Constitutional provision in his state.

Mr. Sirsa said that the DSGMC is a representative body of the Sikhs in the Country and it will not tolerate any discrimination with the Sikhs in any party of the India and will take all the required corrective measure to end such discrimination, if any, with the members of the Sikh community.

Both the leaders urged the Madhya Pradesh government to immediate take corrective measure and provide water to the Sikh families of the Ashok Nagar district without any further delay and also book and punish guilty who have laid such inhuman condition under the provisions of the Constitution specially for violation provisions under Article 295-A for hurting religious sentiments and Article 25-28 freedom of religion.

Mr. Sirsa said that it will be better for the government to take action sooner than later otherwise the DSGMC will be forced to take action under the provision of the Constitution.
