-- 23 October,2017

Sofia, OCTOBER 23
The India’s junior women boxers claimed eight medals, including four gold, in the Balkan International Boxing Championship, making India the most successful team in the event.
Netu (48kg) began the gold run, outclassing Emi-Mari Todorova of Bulgaria 5-0. Shashi (57kg) then got the better of Italy’s Giordana Sorrentino for the country’s second gold.
In the 54kg summit clash, Sakshi was so dominant against Biancamaria Tessari of Italy that the referee stopped the contest in the second round to hand India their third gold.
Neha Yadav (+81kg) then beat Adrienne Juhasz of Hungary 3-2 to secure India’s fourth gold medal.
Ankushita (64kg), however, lost out to Rebecca Nicolo of Italy to settle for the silver medal. Joy Kumari (51kg), Anupama (+81kg) and Sapna (75kg) had earlier narrowly lost their semifinal bouts to end up with a bronze each. India entered the tournament in order to prepare for the AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championship to be held in Guwahati from November 19 to 26.
