Ghubaya Jr tampered with education documents: Jyani

-- 18 October,2017

Chandigarh, October 18
The legal tussle between the youngest Punjab MLA, Davinder Singh Ghubaya, and former Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani has intensified with Jyani accusing Ghubaya of tampering with documents.
Congress MLA Ghubaya had approached court for rectifying his age in educational documents, which show him to be 23 years old. Jyani had pleaded that he be made a party in the case. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for December 2.
Jyani, a BJP leader, had moved an application that he be made a party in the case under the order 1 rule 10 of the CrPC as he had lost to Ghubaya in the Assembly elections and was thus an affected party in the case. Ghubaya had made DAV School and CBSE parties in the case.
Ghubaya had filed a reply that he belongs to a family wherein most of the members are “not well-educated” and hence the error crept in.
Jyani has now filed a rejoinder in the case, saying the family is running an educational institution and his father, Sher Singh, is an MP, thus it is an incorrect claim.
Jyani’s counsel Dinesh Madra said Ghubaya had used his father’s influence to tamper with records. He alleged even the birth certificate had been forged by Ghubaya. The nursing home where Ghubaya was born claimed to have no record of the day when he was born.
