Govt Adv. on Sewa Kendras totally misleading : SAD

-- 06 March,2019

Chandigarh, March 6 : Shiromani Akali Dal described today’s advertisement published in various newspapers on the functioning of Seva Kendras as totally misleading. Instead of releasing the list of very few functional seva kendras the government should release the list of thousands of those seva kendras which have been closed abruptly purely on political concentrations. This was demanded by senior vice president and former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema in a press release issued here today.

Surely, the government has finally buckled in to the public pressure, suggesting a victory of people against that anti-people autocratic style of functioning of the present government.

Dr. Cheema said that the “seva kendras” were set up by the SAD-BJP government to provide scores of time bound services efficiently and in transparent manner at the doorsteps of the people.

However, the new Congress government abruptly and arbitrarily closed all the “seva kendras” and their employees were given marching orders across the state and the people were denied the facility to obtain various services, said Dr. Cheema adding that efficiency and transparency in administration became the major casualty.

Lambasting government for continuing only a limited number of “seva kendras’, Dr. Cheema said that the entire exercise is to mislead public as in its honesty the government should also mention which seva kendras have been closed and reasons thereof.

Dr Cheema said that the government owe an apology to the people of Punjab for having denied the essential facility for over two years and also identify the culprits responsible for closure of “seva kendras” and action should be taken against them.

“It is shocking that even after having realized that closure of seva kendras was great blunder, the government has re-started only a few seva kendras”, rued Dr. Cheema asking why piece meal corrective steps be taken. He argued that all seva kendras should be revived immediately and old employees be reinstated.

The present government has flip-flopped on number of issues, first it suspended prestigious BRTS project at Amritsar and later on introducing new history books and more recently on regularization of ad-hoc employees for which the previous SAD-BJP government had enacted a legislation, pointed Dr Cheema.
