Khaira demands permanent political solution of Kashmir problem, condemns violence

-- 15 February,2019

Chandigarh, Feb.15-Sukhpal Singh Khaira, MLA and President of Punjab Ekta Party(PEP) today strongly condemned the barbaric attack on CRPF Jawans in Pulwama, Kashmir in which 44 Jawans were killed. He said only a permanent political solution of Kashmir problem could restore peace.

In a statement released here Khaira said that violence was no solution to any problem and killings of armed forces and innocent civilians is equally painful. He said that people of Kashmir were themselves victims of double violence i.e. the militants and the atrocities of security forces. Unfortunately, India has no consistence Kashmir policy which is main deterrent in reaching a conclusive and permanent solution.

Khaira said that political solution of the Kashmir problem was the only way out. He said that national leaders should restrain themselves for making political gains over human tragedies. He said that concerns of people of Kashmir should be addressed and they be brought into national main-stream.

He said that thousands of Indian soldiers and civilian people had lost lives in Kashmir fighting a proxy war.  He said that families of victims of violence had to live in pain for whole of life and this vicious circle of killings must come to an end.

Khaira urged the Prime Minister to evolve a national consensus on the issue and tackle the situation in Kashmir with political acumen. He said that He said that in the era of nuclear age,   war with Pakistan couldn’t t be a solution for peace in Kashmir.

Khaira said while he condemned the brutal killings of CRPF jawans, the brutal acts of security forces and the army stationed in Kashmir are also responsible for the current mess in the valley. He said many acts of atrocities by the army like killings of Kashmiri youth in cold blood, rape of women folk, use of youth as human shield by army officers etc. have created immense anger in the valley against the government of India.

Therefore, he said that only a political solution can restore peace in the valley. He said peace in the region is in the interest of both India and Pakistan for mutual coexistence.
