Lahiri off to a flying start

-- 13 October,2017

Kuala Lumpur, October 13
Anirban Lahiri got off to a brilliant start with a 5-under 67 in the first round in the CIMB Classic at the TPC Kuala Lumpur here today.
SSP Chawrasia shot a 72 to go into the second day at tied-44th.
Lahiri, third last year at the same event, is coming off a tied-9th finish in the BMW Championships, his last start on the PGA Tour.
Currently tied-8th, Lahiri is three shots behind Australian Cameron Smith, who holds the lead for the first time in his career. Smith, who had a successful rookie season on the PGA Tour, shot an error-free 64 with five birdies on the front nine and three on the back nine.
Lahiri, playing the CIMB Classic for the sixth time, has a great record at the TPC Kuala Lumpur. The 67 today marked the 11th time he has scored a 70 or better in last 13 rounds at the course.
“I know the course well and I like it, the way I like the DGC (Delhi Golf Club),” said Lahiri.
Lahiri had a brilliant start, from the 10th hole, as he made four birdies in the first five holes and added another on the 18th hole. He looked set for a really low number, but the second nine had a lot of misses.
He started the second nine with a bogey when the putt slipped by from under 10 feet. He, however, recovered with a birdie on the par-5 third hole.
