Magisterial Enquiry to give clean chit to Sidhu couple: Jagir Kaur

Chandigarh, October 22:Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh has order magisterial inquiry into the ghastly tragedy in which 59 persons were killed as a major cover up operation and to give clean chit to organizers and Sidhu couple.

Incensed over Amarinder Singh move to silence his critics saying that all should wait for tailor made inquiry, former SGPC chief and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Jagir Kaur said that Amarinder Singh can’t ward off criticism by holding the shield of magisterial inquiry.

In a statement issued here today, Jagir Kaur dared the government to appoint a sitting high court judge to probe the incident and identify the guilty if the Congress government is keen to let the truth come out and guilty be punished.

“The people have no faith in the magisterial inquiry as it has already been briefed to bail out organizers of the Dusherra event. Not surprising the magisterial probe may indict the victims why they tress passed in to railway property while they were just invited to stand at the Dhobi Ghat area”, said Jagir Kaur adding that the probe is mere a futile attempt to douse inflamed sentiments on the gross failure of the district administration and the organizers.

The Akali leader also lambasted Amarinder Singh for reaching Amritsar only the next day while the Union minister of state for railways reached that night while Punjab governor could make it next morning on Saturday. Why Amarinder Singh was the last VIP to visit the injured victims,” she asked..

“Ironically, Amarinder Singh had announced three-day mourning in Punjab but himself preferred to slip away from the state in less than 48 hours of the tragedy’, said Jagir Kaur adding that the bodies of the some victims are yet to be identified and their last rites are yet not performed.

“ Not only that, Amarinder Singh has reportedly combined his four day official visit to Israel with his private tour and will return on or after November 1 which reflects on his gross apathy , insensitivity and indifference to woes of victims’ families.”, she added.

Perhaps, Amarinder Singh feels that his role was over once magisterial inquiry has been orders and till the report is furnished, he thinks none should talk of the tragedy. Amarinder’s role is now limited to secure an inquiry report which gives clean chit to Sidhu couple and organizer.
