Massive dust storm, rain lash Tricity

Chandigarh, June 1

A massive dust storm followed by heavy rain hit the Tricity on Friday and plunged the city into darkness at around 5 pm throwing life out of gear.
There are reports of uprooting of trees, power supply disruption and breaking of windowpanes. This is the second massive dust storm in the city in the past one month.
The storm accompanied by high-velocity winds and rain hit the Union Territory, including its periphery areas —Mohali and Panchkula, and the day turned almost completely dark in the evening.

Punjab and Haryana had been witnessing intense heat wave for the past several days. The mercury has been hovering over 40 degrees Celsius at most of the places in both the states.
