Nothing can save Kejriwal, Sanjay and Khetan from jail term – Bikram Majithia

-- 23 August,2017

Amritsar, August 23 – Former minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia today said truth would prevail in the criminal defamation case filed by him against AAP Convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and two other AAP leaders and that no amount of lying, double faced statements and attempts to derail the trial would save the trio from a jail term.

In a statement here, Mr Bikram Majithia said Kejriwal was already reneging from his utterances like he had done in other defamation cases filed against him by BJP leaders in Delhi. “Now the Delhi CM has taken a stand in court that he never held nukkad meetings in Amritsar and never made any defamatory remarks against me. He is taking this stand because he understands the noose is tightening around his neck and he will be taken to task for the malicious slander spread by him’.

Asking the AAP leaders to come clean and face trial, the Akali leader said even today accused Sanjay Singh and Ashish Khetan had tried to subvert the system by asking for time and reappointing lawyers respectively. “Earlier both leaders asked for exemption from personal appearance in the case which was denied to them even as they publically claimed they would face trial. Ashish Khetan even approached the high court last week seeking quashing of the case but was not been given relief. He has now been asked to cross examine my witnesses again. Earlier also at the last hearing the court had directed the accused AAP leaders to cross examine my witnesses today or face heavy penalties but they have still tried to forestall court proceedings by filing excuses”.

Mr Majithia said earlier he had requested the court and even asked the AAP leaders to file a joint appeal for day to day hearing in the criminal defamation cases filed against them. “I made this appeal after reading statements from the AAP leaders stating that such cases took a long time to reach conclusion. Even now I am in favour of a speedy trial as I have complete faith in the judiciary. I will expose the web of lies and deceit as the AAP leaders continue to repeat their malicious allegations in public but deny the same in court. They will not be able to get away with such tactics”.

The Akali leader said he was convinced that the liars and rejected AAP leaders would be put behind bars soon. “I had stated earlier ‘today bail tomorrow jail’ when they secured bail in the defamation cases against them. That day is coming. Truth and justice will prevail. They will be in jail soon.
