Pakistan violates ceasefire for third time in 48 hours

-- 03 May,2017

Jammu, May 3
Pakistan on Wednesday violated the mutually-agreed truce between the two countries for the third time in 48 hours after it resorted to fresh firing in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in the morning, the Pakistan Army had violated the ceasefire in Mendhar’s Mankote area in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said Pakistan targeted Indian posts with mortars in Nowshera, while in Mankote area, the intermittent firing continued between the two sides from 1:30 am to 6:30 this morning as Pakistan resorted to mortar shelling on forward posts in Taian area along the Line of Control.
Indian troops guarding the LOC retaliated strongly.
Sources said that the Pakistani troops used heavy mortars on Indian forward posts and the fire shots were easily audible in the Mendhar town.
There are reports of fresh firing in Nowshera sector this evening but official confirmation is yet awaited.
“We have received the reports of ceasefire violation in Nowshera sector this morning. As far as fresh firing is concerned, we are yet to receive the report,” Suleman Choudhary, SSP Rajouri said.
The ceasefire violations comes two days after Pakistani soldiers killed and mutilated the bodies of two Indian soldiers in the Krishna Ghati sector of the Poonch area.
