Bathinda / Bungee (Talwandi Sabo) /Malout/ April 29 – The SAD president Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal said here today that performance of the present govt and works done or not done for the people is the real issue in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Punjab.

” We invite and request the voters to consider the development and social welfare initiatives started or stopped by the present government and compare these with the tasks undertaken and delivered by the SAD BJP government.
Answering a media query in Bathinda on the challaan filed by the SIT Mr Badal said that the SIT has admitted that they have found no material against any Akali leader in two years of intensive investigation. “If the SIT has found nothing in two years against the political executive of the day , then may one ask on what basis has the CM and his do-called Panthic side-kicks been blaming us ? The truth is beginning to catch up with them’l he said, adding that the so-called leaders of the Bargari Morcha were just Congress sponsored mercenaries who were being promoted to create confusion in Sikh minds and render the Khalsa Panth leaderless. But the people have finally seen through this conspiracy and the entire Panth stands united under one Kesari flag again. SAD alone symbolises Panth and Punjab,” said Mr Badal
The Akali president said that he was deeply hurt to see that all the good work done by the SAD BJP government was being undone by the present regime. “To every public demand for the redress of their grievances, the Chief Minister and his colleagues had only one stock answer : empty coffers. We built four lane and six lane expressways, spread a network of flyovers, railways over-bridges and under-bridges, spent Rs 40000 crores to make Punjab power surplus and another Rs 30000 crore on road networks. And we gave pensions, Shaguns, atta daal,SC scholarships, free treatment up to Rs 50000, accidental death insurance of Rs Five Lakhs to farmers, farm labour , small traders and to the poor in general. Every unfortunate cancer victim received Rs 1.5 Lakhs for treatment. But we never complained of empty coffers. The Congress govt has withdrawn all facilities, stopped all development and hiked taxes and user charges. In short they are earning more and spending nothing on the people. And yet they keep making false noises about empty coffers, ” said Mr Badal.
The Akali chief also said that security and dignity (surakhia te sanman) of women is at the core of the SAD agenda. “SAD is inspired by Guru Nanak Patshah’s words placing women next only to Akal Purakh. Our party was the first to implement 1/3rd reservation for womenfolk in SGPC ,” he said, adding that widespread Incidence of indignities and violence against women in Punjab were the most disturbing and painful but the Chief Minister of the state has not addressed the issue even once in the past two years. “No society can progress if half its population faces discrimination, repression and disrespect,” said Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal, underlining the need for women’s empowerment.
