Punjab Police busts gang of anti national elements

Chandigarh, 15 March:  Punjab Police Intelligence Wing today busted a gang of anti-social and anti-national elements who were planning to carry out major criminal activities in Punjab. Acting on a specific input, a police party from State Special Operations Cell, Amritsar has arrested three persons from Amritsar.

           Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Punjab Police said that according to the primarily investigations carried out so far, Baljit Singh of Ajnala, Jagdev Singh of Gurudwara Baba Bakala and Manjit Singh from Amritsar district have been arrested. Police has recovered 2 Pistols of .32 bore along with 3 Magazines and 14 live cartridges from their possession.

            He further said that Baljit Singh, Jagdev Singh and Manjit Singh have been associated with different radical organizations and actively participating in radical activities across Punjab. Apart from this, the trios got in touch with each other through social media and were planning to target the persons responsible for sacrilege incidents in Punjab and Hindu Shiv Sena leaders.

            He revealed that these accused had procured weapons from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. “The exact origin of recovered weapons is being ascertained and the supplier is being identified”, he added. 

He further revealed that arrested accused Baljit Singh basically belongs to Shri Hargobindpur Sahib near Batala and worked as a Granthi at Gurudwara in Nagpur, Maharashtra for about 4 years and recently shifted to Ajnala, Amritsar.

In addition, Baljit Singh was associated with different radical organizations and during the search of his residence at Ajnala, literature relating to different radical organizations have been seized.

He stated that, further Investigation was being conducted on different lines to unearth all nexus and network of this group. “It is also being ascertained if, the accused were being funded and tasked by the radical organizations. Besides, the Indian and foreign contacts of the arrested accused are also being explored,” he added.

In this regard a FIR has been registered under section 25 of Arms Act, at SSOC  Police Station Amritsar.
