Kalajhar (Sangrur), April 26

Punjab Public Works Department Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Thursday inspected Kalajhar toll plaza saying the working of many plazas across the state was under the scanner as they lacked mandatory facilities.
He said the department would conduct an audit of facilities at all plazas of the state and strict action would be initiated against those found lacking mandatory facilities.
“I have directed senior officers of PWD to conduct thorough audit of facilities of all plazas across Punjab. We would not spare anyone as after taking charge, I have got numerous complaints against the authorities of plazas,” Singla said at the Kalajhar toll plaza.
Singla alleged that many private companies which were running plazas at different roads of Punjab did not have mandatory facilities like functional ambulances and other equipment.
“But they arrange such facilities for a few hours when anyone comes for inspection,” he said.
Some villagers also approached Singla and alleged that the Kalajhar toll plaza authorities were not issuing concessional passes to the residents of surrounding areas and they had to make repeated rounds.
“We thank the minister for acting swiftly on our complaint. We demand strict action against the plaza authorities to prevent any harassment in future,” said Gurmeet Singh of Channo village.
