RURAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD RELEASES FIRST INSTALEMENT OF RS 17.50 CRORES FOR UPGRADATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE IN 35 VILLAGES VISTED BY SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI

Chandigarh, March 8: As a part of the ongoing 550th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the rural develoment Board has released first installment of Rs 17.50 Crores for the holistic development of 35 villages associated with the life and time of the first Sikh Guru.

Notably, the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had made this announcement at Sultanpur Lodhi on the auspicious occasion of the Parkash Utsav first Sikh Guru on November 23 last year that 36 villages and 11 Nagar Panchayats visited by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji would be developed at a cost of Rs. 150 Crores.

These funds would be spent on the upgradation of basic civil amenities including sewage system, rejuvenation of ponds, paving of streets with interlocking concrete paver besides ensuring connectivity to historical Gurdwaras, CCTVs, village secretariat, civil dispensary, Panchayat Ghar and Aanngawadi Centers.

Accordingly, the total estimates amounting to Rs. 183.97 Crores were prepared, of these about 33.97 Crores would come from MGNERGA and the remaining 150 Crores from the state.

The concerned Deputy Commissioners have been directed to prioritise these development works which were extremely important and necessary and could be completed with this installment of Rs. 50 Lakh in convergence with MGNREGA.

It may be recalled that villages visited by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji included Nanaksar Sathiala & Sathiala, Udoke Khurd, Udoke Kalan, Veroke in Amritsar district, Mehma Sarja, Kothe Natheana, Lakhi Jangal in Bathinda, Lambhwali in Faridkot, Isher Hail in Fatehgarh Sahib, Haripur in Fazilka, Chahal Kalan (Achal Sahib), Wadala Granthian in Gurdaspur, Jaghera, Thakarwal in Ludhiana, Daudhar Garbi, Daudhar Sharki, Patto Hira Singh, Takhtpura in Moga, Chhitanwala in Patiala, Kamaalpur, Akoi Sahib, Gehlan, Kanjhla, Mangwal, Bahadarpur (Mastuana) in Sangrur, Hakimpura in SBS Nagar, Sarainaga in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ami Shah, Fatehabad, Goindwal Sahib, Khadoor Sahib, Khaira, Dehra Sahib, Lohar, Verowal in TarnTaran district.
