SAD announces support to BJP in Haryana under new alliance.

(SAD to support BJP candidates in Lok Sabha elections and to be given appropriate seats for contesting assembly elections)

Chandigarh, April 12 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today announced it would extend support to the BJP in the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Haryana under a new alliance under which it will contest an appropriate number of seats in the assembly elections in league with the BJP.

Disclosing this here, senior SAD leader and party Haryana Incharge Balwinder Singh Bhundur said this decision was taken at a joint SAD- BJP meeting which was attended by Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and the State BJP leadership as well as the SAD Haryana leadership including its President Sharanjit Singh Sotha . Mr Bhundur headed the SAD delegation at the meeting which was held in Narwana today.

Mr Bhundur as per the formal agreement which follows talks held in this regard between SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and BJP President Amit Shah, the SAD will support BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha elections.

He said as per the terms of the alliance the SAD will be allocated appropriate number of seats keeping in view its sphere of influence in Haryana for contesting the next assembly elections. Discussion on the exact number of seats as well as the assembly seats which are to the allocated to the SAD will be decided after the Lok Sabha elections. The SAD has considerable presence in around 25 assembly seats across the State.

Mr Bhundur said he was confident that after the new alliance between the BJP- SAD in Haryana the foundation had been laid for a complete BJP victory across the State. He said the SAD would campaign jointly with the BJP besides organising public meetings as per the demand of BJP candidates in the forthcoming days to bolster the campaign of the BJP.
