SAD will initiate court cases against officers engaging in political vendetta – Bikram Majithia

-- 20 April,2017

Amritsar, April 20 – Former Revenue minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia today said the SAD would initiate court cases against officers engaging in political vendetta with akali workers on the directions of the Congress party.

Addressing a public meeting at Ropawali Kalan as part of his thanksgiving tour of Majithia constituency, the Akali leader said officers should not act in a partisan manner at the behest of anyone. He said it was unfortunate that this was taking place in the Majha region with Congress legislators putting pressure on police officers to register false cases against akali workers. He said the party would fight all vendetta cases of akali workers.

The former minister also urged the Congress government to act on its poll promises instead of forming committees and putting all promises into the deep freezer. “The new Congress government also seems to have got fond of the word review and is spending its entire exercise in review exercises instead of delivering on its poll promises”.

Mr Majithia said agriculture economy was passing through stress as could be seen from the recent spike in farmer suicide cases. He said farmers were rightfully waiting for an immediate loan waiver on the Uttar Pradesh pattern and were disappointed that the government was delaying taking any decision on such a sensitive issue. He said it was unfortunate that the Punjab Congress has got forms filled from farmers in this regard. “Lakhs of farmers who filled these forms are feeling cheated”, he said while reiterating the Congress government announce a complete farm loan waiver immediately.

The Akali leader also stressed the Congress government had nothing to show for one month in office. He said no concrete action had been taken to create jobs or to come up with new innovative social welfare schemes. “The government seems to be bogged down in self-praise over trivial issues even as it is putting off taking any pro-people decision by citing various excuses. This is not a healthy start”, the former minister said while urging to government to get going and deliver on its promises
