Shameful that govt. is not able to provide mid day meal to students- Aman Arora

Aam Aadmi Party on Friday criticized Capt. Amarinder Singh led Congress govt. for failing to provide mid day meal to the students of state run schools. The termed it shameful that the govt. is that much financially weak that it not able to provide the basic facility to the students.

In a press release, AAP state co-president Aman Arora said that govt. is spending crores of rupees on the projects and issues those are not important for the people at large but is ignoring the basic issues. He said that the govt. is going to spend Rs. 50 Lakhs on organizing Polo matches in the state but have not enough money to provide uniforms, books and meals to the students.

Arora said that the state govt. has to pay 40% of the money of the mid day meal and rest will be provided by the centre govt. but due to non availability of state funds the centre is not releasing the funds. He said that due to the mismanagement of state funds over 20 lakhs students of state are unable to get meal.

Arora said that the policies of Congress govt. have turned anti dalit as the govt. has stopped the facilities being provided to the dalits in state. The pensions and other facilities are not being provided from last 6 months. He demanded that the government must focus on providing facilities to the poor and needy people in the state. He also asked Capt. Amarinder Singh to fulfill promise made during polls.
