SIRSA URGES CM: ACT AGAINST VIOLATIONS IN ALLOWING MECHANICAL SWEEPERS AND CONTAMINATED WATER TANKERS

-- 05 July,2017

Chandigarh/New Delhi, July 5: The Shiromani Akali Dal-Bhartiya Janta Party combine MLA Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today urged Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal to act against minister Mr. Satyendra Jain and others those responsible in a major scam of allowing violations in hiring mechanical sweepers and iron tankers for serving water in Delhi.

In a statement issued here today, Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that AAP government was allowing violations of rules while hiring mechanical sweepers for cleaning the roads in national capital. He said that while hiring these sweepers CPWD manual of 2014 was ignored and guidelines of the CVC were blatantly violated. He said that not only this, the sweepers hired by PWD department are Euro 3 compliant whereas as per the directions of the Supreme Court and NGT only Euro 4 vehicles can ply on Delhi roads. He further said that as per Delhi government guidelines no vehicle registered outside Delhi can ply on Delhi roads for intra city services even if it may be a national permit holder and these sweepers are registered in cities of UP and other states outside Delhi.

He said that it was surprising that how officials are making payments to contractors for these services constantly ignoring the guidelines of Delhi government on the issue.

Mr. Sirsa also wondered that on one hand Kejriwal government had launched much touted Odd Even formula scheme for reducing pollution level in the city whereas now its own officials were allowing sweepers which are polluting the city on a massive scale.

Mr. Sirsa said that similar is the case of iron body tankers hired by Delhi Jal Board (DJB) for carrying water. He said that as per WHO norms as well as guidelines of the Indian government only steel tankers can be used for carrying water. He said that it was utterly surprising that the government approved use of these iron body tankers by the contractors for a consideration known only to those at helm of affairs.

He pointed out when a complaint regarding this was filed with Public Grievance Cell (PVC), DJB had assured the PVC that they are to receive more than 250 steel body tankers and these used presently will be phased out within six months. He said that even after lapse of more than a year and a half DJB has done nothing to comply with its own undertaking. He said that DJB was playing with the health of the Delhites and was constantly ignoring the guidelines for serving water to the city residents.

Mr. Sirsa urged CM to take notice of the alleged corruption being done in PWD and DJB and file a complaint with Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) at the earliest for this bungling of government funds if he was sure that their government was committed to provide neat and clean administration. He said that if the government fails to file the complaint then he will be forced to do the same.
