Student’s asking CM to help in board exam, a blot on govt’s face: Principal Budh Ram

-- 04 March,2019

Chandigarh, March 4

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Budhlada MLA and Punjab unit chief of the core committee, Principal Budhram said that the previous SAD-BJP government and now the ruling Congress government were solely responsible for the abysmal falling standards of education in the state.

Taking a serious note of a video clip, which went viral on social media platforms, recently showing a student pleading with chief minister Amarinder Singh to help him pass his  upcoming 10th and 12th board exams, Budhram said that it was not something to be dismissed as a mere joke. This, he said, showed the  falling standards of education in the state, besides being a slap on the face of the government which had been calling the shots for the past more than four decades now.

The AAP leader said the student asking CM to help him pass through his board examination at a sangat-darshan held in a border town out recently was disgraceful as that reflected the downward trend of the education juggernaut in the state.  Even as the CM tried to outsmart the innocent boy by ducking his direct question, saying he should work hard, leaving many present on the occasion amused for words. “I shall try my best to get through but, as you may be aware, a large number of students had failed last year”, which left CM stumbling for words.

Directing his question to the Amarinder Singh, Budhran further added that his government should come out of its cozy confines and address the issue to bring the standard of education back on the track. He questioned that if the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi could bring about drastic changes in Delhi schools, why couldn’t Captain replicate the model in Punjab?

Budhram further said that the preceding    SAD-BJP government and the ruling government in the state had brought the education system to the bring, saying it was their well thought-out design to derail the set up in school colleges and universities in the state. The proposal to discontinue board examinations in the state was a part of the strategy to debar a large number of ‘dalits’, poor peasants and others from availing themselves of the opportunities of growth and better opportunities through education. He said that what could be worse than that no recruitments were made in schools for over a period of time.
