While terming the victory of Congress in Gurdaspur by-poll as historic, Dera Baba Nanak MLA Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has said that Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal must take responsibility of SAD-BJP coalition defeat, and should remove Bikram Singh Majithia from all positions in Panthic party.
He said that the removal of Majithia will help to cleanse politics of Punjab, as due to his high handedness and patronage to anti-social elements, entire Political class has suffered. He said that SAD-BJP suffered historic defeat because of Majithia, who has become a most hated figure in Punjab.
Randhawa said that the historic victory of Dera Baba Nanak, is a vote against Majithia and ‘lion’ Sucha Singh Langah, whom Majithia used to term as his ‘lion’. Majithia must own responsibility of SAD defeat in Dera Baba Nanak segment with record 44074 votes, as you (Sukhbir) has made him constituency incharge after Langah was removed from party.
Sukhjinder Randhawa while advising Sukhbir Badal that removal of Majithia will be beneficial for not only for SAD, but will help to reinforce faith of Public in politicians. “You (Sukhbir) may find it tough to admit, but it’s a fact that SAD suffered rout in 2017 elections, and subsequently lost Gurdaspur by-poll because of Majithia, who has become most hated politician in Punjab. Most of Akalis cant say this fact to you because of your relationship with Majithia. However, I advise you to remove Majithia from party, as this is need to hour to cleanse Punjab Politics. Majithia is not fit for politics.”
He said that “Due to Majithia’s style of functioning, his name in drug racket and patronage to his corrupt protégés, public has started hating politician. He has lowered the image of entire political class with his misdeeds of last 10 years. Politicians has become hero to hate figure in last 10 years”.
Randhawa said that he is advising Sukhbir because it also relates to his personal interests. “ I am also a politician, and wants to be seen as role model (hero) in public, not the hate figures. Majithia has lowered the image of politicians”, said
He also asked the SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal to give some political wisdom his son, and advise him to sack Majithia from Party. A strong opposition is needed in democracy. With Aam Aadmi Party is losing steam, and Majithia has become synonym of hate in Public, Sukhbir must introspect this fact as with liability like Majithia, SAD will never ever be able to reach even to a tally to become principal opposition party in Vidhan Sabha.
