Teamwork a must to solve high-profile murders: DGP

-- 23 October,2017

Ludhiana, October 23
State DGP Suresh Arora said here today that several unsolved cases, including the recent murder of RSS leader Ravinder Gosain, were a challenge for the Punjab Police, even as he stressed the need for teamwork and coordination within the force.
The DGP visited the spot where Gosain was shot dead. He also met the family members of the deceased and later held a closed-door meeting with the city police. Arora was accompanied by DGP (Intelligence) Dinkar Gupta and counter-intelligence officers.
Asked if the handing over of such cases to the NIA or the CBI reflected the failure of the state police, the DGP dismissed the argument and said the central agencies were well-equipped to probe the role of people based overseas, who could be behind the killings of religious leaders.
The DGP said the NIA team would soon start a probe into the Gosain case and was likely to visit the crime scene in a few days. “The Punjab Police will assist the investigating agency in the probe,” Arora said.
“I want cops of all ranks to work together and share information. Only joint efforts can produce results,” he told cops during a meeting at Bachat Bhawan. Meanwhile, recent CCTV footage of petrol pumps is being procured to get clues about the bike-borne assailants who killed Gosain.
