UK election: May seen 22 seats short of majority

Prime Minister Theresa May is on track to win 304 seats in Britain’s parliament in an election on Thursday, 22 seats short of a 326-seat majority, according to a daily projection by polling company YouGov published on Tuesday.
May’s Conservatives had 330 seats when the snap election was called in April.
On Monday, YouGov said its model suggested the Conservatives were on course to win 305 seats.
The opposition Labour Party is likely to win 266 seats, YouGov’s model showed, down from 268 on Monday.
Another model, produced by Lord Ashcroft Polls, last week predicted the Conservatives were on course for a majority.
Security dominates election campaign

After police named two of the attackers and revealed that one was previously known to security agencies, Prime Minister Theresa May faced further questions about her record overseeing cuts to police numbers when she was interior minister. The latest opinion poll, by Survation for ITV, had the Conservatives’ lead over Labour narrowing to just one point from six points in the same poll a week earlier. However, the consensus among pollsters remains that May’s party, who have been in government since 2010, will win a majority.
Macron set for biggest majority since De Gaulle
Paris: Emmanuel Macron’s party is set to win the biggest parliamentary majority for a French president since Charles de Gaulle’s 1968 landslide, a survey of voter intentions for the coming legislative elections showed on Tuesday. Such a majority would give Macron’s government a strong mandate to push ahead with economic reforms, starting with a pro-business overhaul of France’s labour code, a notoriously difficult area of policy to agree with trade unions.
